“the Nest"

 

Das Nest ist Schutz und Begrenzung zugleich.
Es umschließt das Verletzliche, hält Wärme, Rhythmus, Verlässlichkeit. In ihm entsteht Stabilität – ein Gleichgewicht aus fragilen Teilen, das trägt, solange man getragen werden muss.

Doch dieselbe Umhüllung, die schützt, grenzt ab.
Innen ist Nähe, außen Weite.
Innen Ordnung, außen Unberechenbarkeit.

Das Nest schenkt Geborgenheit –
und bewahrt vor Risiko.
Es ermöglicht Abhängigkeit –
und verzögert Selbstständigkeit.

Es ist Herkunft und Halt,
aber kein Ziel.
Was im Nest wächst, wächst auf das Verlassen hin.

So trägt das Nest seinen Widerspruch in sich:
Es bewahrt das Leben –
indem es es auf die Außenwelt vorbereitet.

Es ist Anfang und Schwelle zugleich.

The nest is protection and limitation at once.
It encloses the vulnerable, holding warmth, rhythm, reliability. Within it, stability emerges — a balance of fragile elements that sustains life as long as it needs to be sustained.

Yet the same enclosure that protects also confines.
Inside is closeness; outside, expanse.
Inside, order; outside, unpredictability.

The nest offers security —
and shields from risk.
It allows dependence —
and postpones independence.

It is origin and foundation,
but never destination.
What grows within the nest grows toward leaving it.

Thus the nest carries its own contradiction:
It preserves life —
by preparing it for the world beyond.

It is both beginning and threshold.
